Sri Lanka National Major Division Chess Championship 2023-Uva Province

For the first time in Uva Province, the Sri Lanka National Major Division Chess Championship 2023 (Divisional) was held from February 11th to 14th at S. Thomas College Bandarawela. 96 players participated in this event, and many Thomians, including the men’s champion, brought home many awards.

Men’s Section

🎖️️ First Place – Adeesha Dinal Thilakaratne of S. Thomas’ College Bandarawela
🎖️️ Second Place – Hansaja Ramith Alwela of Beeline Chess Club
🎖️️ Third place – DP Lakindu Sasmika of Malwattawala National School Wellawaya

Women’s Section

🎖️️ First Place – Yumali Yugitma of Central Collge Bandarawela
🎖️️ Second place – Mehensa Sayumi of Central College Bandarawela
🎖️️ Third place – KP Adra from Sussex College Bandarawela

26 players have qualified to participate in the Sri Lanka National B Chess Tournament.
